I’ve recently started my cleaning my garage. I have needed to declutter and discover what was inside plastic totes and cardboard boxes. Eventually, I opened a box that turned out to be a treasure chest—full of items from both my son’s childhood AND my own! I felt such JOY the photos, trinkets, notes—priceless forgotten mementos discovered again.
This Joy of Discovery is a gift that is available to us on our journeys through life. We have an open invitation to explore the inner life, finding the treasures and connecting to the Divine and one’s most authentic self. The engagement and connection with like-minded persons and the STRETCHING of mind, heart, spirit and experience that result in community are rich benefits for doing the work.
Admittedly, STRETCHING can be uncomfortable at times—but it is this STRETCHING that enables us to EXPAND our reach and empower other to experience what we have experienced! The more we seek and learn, the more we become free to be--discovering new places of reflection, connection, and acceptance in and of self!
As I have grown on my journey, I have a greater freedom to move toward what theologian and mystic Howard Thurman, called the “inward sea," reclaiming the inner wealth of wisdom and inspiration, then, JOYFULLY share with others.
